St George Splash Pad
Summer isn’t just about outdoor activities, it’s also about staying cool. The last thing you want to do is sweat while you hang out with friends and family. Luckily, our island has so many fun ways to stay cool in the summer. One of our favorites? The St. George’s Splash Pad! Located on the boardwalk in front of the statue of Nathan Deal, this little splash pad makes for an excellent destination for a day of relaxation and playing with your kids. This spot features three separate water features: a small stagnant pond that’s home to a few fish, a smaller shallow pool perfect for toddlers, and an area where you can dive straight into the deep end after using a tube. In addition to all that, there are plenty of seating options on site so you can take advantage of the scenery while you relax. You can explore this amazing attraction at 50 S Main St, St. George, UT 84770.
What to Know Before Visiting the St. George’s Splash Pad
The water at this spot may look inviting, but you should know a few things before going. First, the boardwalk is not wheelchair accessible. Second, the splash pad is covered with a blue tarp most of the year. The tarp is for safety reasons and the water can get a little murky under it. Third, there are no bathrooms on site. So, you’ll have to go off-site if you need to take a break or use the restroom.
Jump in!
This is the point where most people skip the splash pad and head straight for the pond. And we get it, the pond is a gorgeous blue oasis filled with calm fish and a few turtles swimming around the edge. It’s also the shallow pool, where you can get into the water a little further to cool off and relax. But what most people don’t realize is that the splash pad is actually a whole lot of fun, too. The three separate water features all add up to create a large surface area, so you can play in the water with your friends and family, or just sit on the edge and splash around with your toes. There are plenty of seating areas, so you can take advantage of the scenery while you relax.
The Three Gallants: The Pond, Shallow Pool and Dive Area
This is the splash pad’s main draw, and it’s also where you’ll find the shallowest water. Here, you can hop into the shallow area for a refreshing swim and play in the shallow water. You can even jump in the deeper water if you want to dive and roll around like a ball, but it’s not recommended. If you want to head over to the dive area, you’ll have to use a separate tube to get there. Once you’re under the blue tarp, you can explore the underwater world and explore all the fish, turtles and other creatures living in our local waters.
Keep Going for More Fun
Like we mentioned earlier, the splash pad is a large space. You can easily jump into the shallow water, find a nearby seat or bench and just relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the boardwalk. The same goes for the pond. If you want to sit on a nearby bench and relax, you can find a secluded spot near the middle of the pond, or head to the edge to splash around in the water. You can find plenty of seating options throughout the area, so you can take advantage of the scenery while you relax. Next Activity
